Indie York, an organisation aiming to map out all of the independent businesses in York is now closing in on 200 members.
York is a charming city, attracting more than 7 million visitors per year. One of the many qualities that makes York such a beautiful and vibrant city is the number of independent businesses that can found amongst the cobbled streets and impressive architecture.
Small Business Saturday is a campaign that takes place every year on the first weekend of December, and urges people to support small and local businesses by favouring them over large scale retailers. The day itself is just that, one day, but the campaign runs all year round and encourages small business support, hoping to have lasting impacts on the businesses involved. Last year, an estimated £748 million was spent on the day.
Last year saw the launch of Garbutt & Elliott's first annual Yorkshire Food Entrepreneur Awards 2018, commending the best in the county's food and drink sector. Now the awards are back for a second year, and on the way to being bigger and better than the last.
York Business Week is back and full to the brim of conferences, seminars, networking events and award ceremonies! The SIAFS project will sadly come to an end in March 2019. This means that you only have 6 months left to attend free workshops. SIAFS is a fantastic project and a great opportunity for any business to receive business support for FREE! This is not something to be missed as it won't be around for much longer! However it's not too late to still get involved. You can still attend any of the workshops we have running and you can also receive one-to-one business support
