Northern Bloc

The Story
“Not all Ice Cream is created equal” is Northern Bloc’s tag line, and it’s certainly true! Northern Bloc began out of a desire to make great tasting ice cream that is natural and free from artificial ingredients. Inspired by the Northern cities history of innovation, Northern Bloc strives to create new flavours, techniques and experiences with their ice cream which is cooked up by their chef, who is a second generation ice cream maker. Their Ice Creams and Sorbets don’t use any additives, colouring, emulsifiers or artificial flavourings. They are all gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. Their Little Bloc range, designed for kids, is free from refined sugar and additives and is available in a range of delicious flavours.  

The SIAFS project supports small businesses, such as Northern Bloc, with free workshops and vouchers to use at Fera Science Ltd. SIAFS recently sponsored the Garbutt & Elliot Food Awards Innovation Category which was won by Northern Bloc.

Sophie Bennett from Northern Bloc said; “We’re extremely proud to have won the Garbutt & Elliot Best Innovation award for Little Bloc. Innovation is one of our core missions at Northern Bloc, and in a world of increasing rates of childhood obesity and sugar consumption we saw that there was a gap in the market for a great tasting children’s ice cream free from refined sugar.”
